Most government job competitions—whether for entry-level officer positions or for promotions—require candidates to submit a written statement-of-interest (SOI)when applying. The length of the text varies depending on the Department or Agency involved. A Leadership Experience Test (LET) may be requested in lieu of or in addition to an SOI.
